Photo of the Week: Flying for Charity over Kakwa Lake

In this new series, we will feature a new photo of the week every Wednesday or Thursday!

This week's photo is shared by Shawn Clarke.

I had a friend of mine phone me up one day, the Grande Prairie pipes and drum band was having their first annual fundraiser. He knew I donated flights for charities and asked if I would be interested. I donated a scenic flight through the mountains in my Cessna 182. It was auctioned off in a silent auction and the lucky person who bought it brought her husband and neighbor up for the 2-hour flight into the Canadian Rocky Mountains. We took off from CYYC Grande Prairie, Alberta and flew into the province of British Columbia over Kakwa lake taking in a couple of water falls. Her husband had never been in a small aircraft before. When we landed he was so thrilled with the flight he was thinking about getting his private pilot license, asking all kinds of questions. It is always as much fun for me as for my passengers to be with them when they experience general aviation for the first time.
