On January 25, 2015, Lue Morton embarked on a solo ferry flight to deliver a brand new Cirrus SR22 Australis to Sydney, Australia, by way of Maui, Hawaii.

He flew an airplane specially modified with auxiliary "ferry" fuel tanks, designed for extended range ferry flight.

Facing 30' waves and 30mph winds, Lue ditched in the Pacific ocean, hundreds of miles from land, 4 hours after the auxiliary tanking system failed. Thanks to Cirrus' CAPS emergency system, US Coast Guard, Holland America, SFO AIRINC and the countless aircraft relaying information, the ditching went successful.
